Another amazing day for nuclear energy at #COP28. Cameco President and CEO Tim Gitzel attended the Sapporo 5 nuclear fuel collaboration pledge announcement today at the Net Zero Nuclear Summit, held as part of #COP28. This commitment brings together Canada, the United Kingdom, Japan, France and the United States with a shared goal of investing in the nuclear fuel infrastructure needed to triple nuclear energy capacity by 2050.

There were more productive discussions at #COP28 today as Cameco President and CEO Tim Gitzel met with His Excellency Fahad Saeed Al Raqbani, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Canada.

Tim also spoke on a panel about SMRs and sustainable nuclear power with His Excellency Mohamed Al Hammadi, Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation Managing Director and CEO, Saskatchewan Research Council President and CEO Mike Crabtree, and Westinghouse Electric Company Canada President Eddie Saab. At #COP28, Cameco CEO and President Tim Gitzel and Executive Vice-President and CFO Grant Isaac attended the kick-off of the Saskatchewan pavilion and had a chance to connect with Saskatchewan Premier, Scott Moe, Westinghouse Electric Company CEO, Patrick Fragman and Saskatchewan Research Council President & CEO, Mike Crabtree.

This week, Cameco will be meeting with representatives from governments and utilities to share the benefits of pursuing emissions-free nuclear energy fueled by Saskatchewan uranium.
