From 2000 to 2014, Cameco participated in the generation of nuclear electricity through a 31.6% share of the four Bruce B reactors, which produce about 15% of Ontario's electricity needs.

In early 2014, Cameco announced the sale of its 31.6% interest in the Bruce Power L.P. to BPC Generation Infrastructure Trust, closing out its direct role in the generation of electricity.

The first nuclear-powered submarine, the USS Nautilus, put to sea in 1955. Decommissioned in 1980, the Nautilus had logged over a half million miles using nuclear power.
