Safe, Healthy & Rewarding Workplace
Approach
The safety of our workers and members of the public is paramount at every stage of Cameco’s operations – from exploration, development and operation to decommissioning and reclamation.
Keeping risks as low as reasonably achievable and sending workers home safely at the end of every shift or work rotation is the most important thing we do each day.
Attracting and developing skilled employees in a highly competitive sector, and providing a workplace that keeps them engaged and encourages a sense of community, contribution and belonging, are also critically important to our success.
We take employee engagement and development seriously and we actively invest in both.

Employee Health and Safety
Our commitment to employee health and safety has produced a strong track record of safety performance. Over the last two years, Cameco’s LTI rate has declined to well below .200 (which is the Saskatchewan mining industry average), and in 2013, our Blind River, Ontario refinery and our Crow Butte, Nebraska ISR mine celebrated seven and six years without an LTI respectively.
Employee Relations and Recruitment
Cameco is regarded as a fair and equitable employer in the communities where we operate. We have deep, long standing relationships within the communities near our operations, where we actively create and sustain local partnerships to build capacity and broaden local job opportunities.
